Sleep Dirt - Live at Morgana

Live at Morgana is Tokyo based hardcore outfit Sleep Dirt's first full length album. Starting with the track 'broken shoes' there is a hint of melodic emo in the introduction, but soon it becomes clear that Sleep Dirt is a raw hardcore band without any of the polished charm of your standard over produced screamo acts. With the track 'Two Minutes' you are treated to a progressively confrontational song that doesn't spare the heavy with 80's hardcore overtones. There is a sense of spatial distance in the live show recording that transports you front row of the small basement Tokyo punk rock live house Morgana. An unfiltered quality is present throughout the album in the form of singer Keigo Kitamura's personal intensity that carries you through the set. If you're looking for an easy listening experience then Live at Morgana is not for you, but if want a deep dive into the bowels of Tokyo's hardcore underground then strap in.
